taking an august break
It’s that time of year again!
Five summers ago I was struck with the desire to challenge myself to a photo project that would help me capture the little moments of the everyday. I felt something was missing from my photography practice, a practice that focused purely on what I was up to with my hobbies and handmade craft business at the time. I realised I was missing capturing the glue that held those pieces together.
Looking around the ether’verse I found my answer with Susannah Conway's annual August Break: a month-long, fun and no rules community project. With words if we chose, or not.
This will be my fifth summer participating. It has become somewhat a tradition and creative practice in capturing the everyday glue, before everything speeds up again when school resumes next month.
You can follow and get the stories behind the photos as they happen over on Instagram, or sign up for the weekly digest to your inbox. Find out more and join Susannah’s project here.
Are you in? Do say hello in the comments: I'd be delighted to connect with you!
